The birth certificate of the United States of Europe

Just over a week ago in The Business, Andrew Neil described the real significance of the proposed EU constitution for our ability to make our own laws.

While our Government is playing down the significance of the Constitution, the German minister for Europe, Hans Martin Bury, was declaring it to be ‘the birth certificate of the United States of Europe.’ Andrew Neil explains how Lord Justice Laws' ruling in the ‘metric martyr’s’ case puts in doubt the constitutional supremacy of EU law over our common law.
