Civitas has a limited number of places available for internships. Interns receive travel expenses but no payment and are expected to play a full part in the life of the organisation. They will be allocated to a specific area of research, and given a project with measurable goals. The minimum period for an internship is four weeks, full time, although most interns are with us for six weeks. We do not offer part-time or non-continuous internships. Internships are available throughout the year, during term time and vacations, although there is of course a greater demand for the vacation periods.
If you are interested in an internship with Civitas please send your CV, together with a covering letter explaining why you think you would make a good intern, to Robert Whelan. We ask applicants who are invited for interview to familiarise themselves with the work of the organisation through the website before coming.
London Boxing Academy Community Project Internships
In many ways the most challenging of Civitas's school projects is the London Boxing Academy Community Project (LBACP) in Tottenham, North London. This project works with young men and women who have not succeeded in mainstream education, mixing academic work with sport. Civitas provides the academic component, helping the students to achieve GCSE and BTEC qualifications in maths, English and other subjects. Interns are required to support the delivery of the project, and in particular, to assist Civitas's project manager in his coordinating role. Interns would be based at the LBACP in Tottenham, rather than at the Civitas office in Westminster, and would receive reasonable travel expenses. If you are interested in an internship, please contact Tom Ogg.
