Contrary to Government claims, EU green energy policies are predicted to destroy tens of thousands of British jobs
Green economic policies mean more pain than gain for Britain, according to a new Civitas report. The Green Mirage, by John Constable, finds claims that the low-carbon economy can deliver so-called ‘green collar’ jobs are staggeringly far-fetched and unsupported by official measures.

In light of the increasingly evident disparity between standards of criminal justice in EU member states, the European Commission has launched a consultation on pre-trial detention and extradition. This Green Paper should be welcomed as a recognition of “the scandal of excessive and unjustified pre-trial detention in Europe”, and the need to impose more rigorous common standards to prevent further rights violation.

Ex-EU Commissioners are still claiming substantial amounts of money from the EU, despite having left their jobs over a year ago, writes Natalie Hamill. ‘Transitional funds’ of at least €96,000 per year are still being claimed by 17 former Commissioners, most of whom have secured lucrative employment since leaving office in the EU.
